Rehabilitation

Rehabilitation patients are empowered through individualized programs to reach goals of increased independence. Patient family members are encouraged to participate in therapy sessions to provide support and encouragement.

We offer modalities with our interventions that set us apart from other rehab programs. Our clinicians are trained to assess patients and utilize special equipment such as electrical stimulation as clinically indicated to improve strength and coordination of movement in conjunction with therapeutic intervention. This experience will assist to progress the patient limitations for a faster recovery.
We utilize advanced equipment such as the barihab table which allows the patient to be positioned and challenged physically even with severe deficits limiting mobility and activity tolerance. This will allow your family member to participate in therapy at more advanced levels which will improve the speed of recovery back to independence.

Physical Therapy

Physical therapy focuses on identification and rehabilitation of individuals with physical impairment and pain, as well as preventing future injury. Following evaluation, the physical therapist develops an individualized treatment program for each patient.

Areas of focus may include the following:

  • Increasing strength and mobility in the body and lower extremities
  • Increasing motor control for stroke patients
  • Improving coordination, balance, and walking ability following orthopedic surgery
  • Overall strength conditioning, range of motion, and endurance following hip or knee replacements
  • Teaching pain management
  • Teaching proper body mechanics to prevent injury
  • Teaching safety awareness for the resident’s well-being

Occupational Therapy

Our occupational therapists use task-directed activities to treat patients whose functional abilities and independence doing daily activities have been impaired by illness, injury, or aging. Occupational therapy assists our patients in adapting to their social and physical environment by mastering tasks essential to daily living.

Our occupational therapists may work with patients who have debilitating arthritic conditions or those with difficulty bathing, dressing, and other daily living activities. They assist our patients with impaired vision and/or hearing to function well in their environment.

Areas of treatment may include the following:

  • Functional independence: Eating, bathing, toileting, homemaking, cooking
  • Maintaining wellness: Dressing, grooming
  • Preventing injury: Home assessments and modifications, adaptive equipment
  • Increasing safety awareness: Energy conservation techniques, body mechanics

Speech Therapy

Our speech therapists provide a myriad of services, including assessment, education, and treatment for language, voice, articulation, and fluency disorders. Our treatment programs are directed towards improving communication skills and safe swallowing.

We assist in rehabilitating patients who struggle with comprehension, memory, processing, and expression abilities. We also instruct the patient or the caregiver in techniques ranging from head positioning to promoting safe swallowing at a slower rate to clearer speech. We also teach patients how to compensate if they cannot be rehabilitated to their prior level of performance.

Speech therapists work to restore the following abilities:

  • Speech and voice clarity
  • Comprehension and verbal expression
  • Chewing and swallowing ability
  • Cognitive language skills, like memory, problem-solving, and abstract reasoning
  • Patient and family/caregiver education and training for managing ongoing difficulties with communication, cognition, and swallowing
